Therapy Experience

”I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die discover that I had not lived at all.” – Henry David Thoreau

Medicine Wheel at RedCliff is not your typical therapeutic setting.  We don’t have nice leather couches or sit behind big oak desks.  Therapy takes place under a juniper tree, on a hike, or around the campfire.  We believe that it is during these moments that clients are able to genuinely process their feelings and emotions.  They are more honest with themselves and with others, and more accepting of feedback.  At Medicine Wheel there’s nowhere to hide from responsibility, choice, and consequence.

Clients meet with their clinician each week to evaluate their progress, review weekly therapeutic assignments, and set goals for the coming week.  Between therapy sessions, they have opportunities to meet with guides individually and in a group setting each day.

Despite our remote setting, we are able to involve family in the therapeutic process through parent narratives and weekly updates from clinicians.
